Laryngitis Overview:

Laryngitis occurs when the larynx, or more commonly known as the voice box, becomes irritated and swollen. 

Laryngitis Causes:

Laryngitis is caused by infection due to bacteria from flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, or a cold.  Other causes include smoking, yelling, singing, or straining of the voice, and allergies.

Laryngitis Symptoms:

Laryngitis is characterized by a scratchy, hoarse voice or total lose of the voice.

Symptoms of laryngitis include fever, fatigue, and a feeling of something being lodged in the throat area.
