Internal Hemorrhoids
Internal Hemorrhoids Overview:
Internal hemorrhoids are found inside the rectum and can exist as just one or multiple 'lumps' or hemorrhoids. The problem
with internal hemorrhoids, often times, is that healing never comes because each bowel movement further aggravates the affected
area.
For some internal hemorrhoids sufferers, the most noticeable symptom may be ever-present bleeding or seepage from the anus, especially during or immediately following bowel movements. While it's generally recognized that bleeding hemorrhoids don't usually present a major health threat, there are rare cases in which patients have required blood transfusions due to extreme loss of blood from internal hemorrhoids. In the case of internal hemorrhoids located above the anorectal line, there may be no pain associated with the condition at all. If there is no bleeding to indicate internal hemorrhoids, a person may not know they have them without a doctor's examination. Yet another reason why a regular check up with your doctor is a good idea, especially for people over 40. While bleeding or pain may not be present for a person with internal hemorrhoids, it's important to note that, if left untreated, hemorrhoids may still progress to the most painful and uncomfortable form. In some severe cases, an internal hemorrhoid can become so stretched and disfigured that it will hang outside of the anus. This can cause excruciating pain as the anal opening closes around the vein, squeezing and compressing the already damaged vein.
